The Bay Area Restoration Council (BARC) is an organization that works to promote the clean-up and restoration of Hamilton Harbour. Pier 8 Group’s public relations team helped BARC to develop a comprehensive communications strategy to raise the public profile of the organization and make residents aware of efforts to clean up the bay.
Extensive research and interviews with stakeholders and opinion leaders from the cities of Hamilton and Burlington helped to gauge public attitudes and crystallize support for BARC’s vision. An around-the-bay media tour earned print and TV coverage in local and national media. Particularly significant was an 8-day, 36-page feature in the Hamilton Spectator around the theme Bringing Back the Bay. A state-of-the-art website created by Pier 8 Group provided BARC with an ongoing communications tool for its continuing campaign.
