Pier 8 Group: Carbon Neutral – Environmentally Sustainable

Pier 8 Group has been certified as a carbon neutral enterprise by RGD Ontario and LivClean, one of Canada’s top providers of carbon offset solutions. Greenhouse gases generated by our business have been offset in their entirety by the purchase of carbon offsets.

Pier 8 Group’s is committed to carrying on its business in an environmentally-sustainable way. Here are some of the things we do:

• In selecting suppliers, we consider them in the context of sustainability. We work with local vendors wherever possible and collaborate with them to find most environmentally friendly materials and solutions.
• We incorporate sustainable design principles into our work. In developing communication and marketing pieces for our clients, we consider the entire life cycle of the product. We ask ourselves: Can it serve its communications function and still be easily recycled?
• We use energy efficiently in running our studio. We turn computers off when we leave the office at night and ensure that all electronics are in power-save mode whenever possible. We use energy-efficient fluorescent lighting. We use heating and AC wisely.
• We reduce waste by recycling in the blue boxes that are located in every office. We avoid disposable items such as plastic water bottles and buy used wherever possible.
• We work to reduce travel that uses fossil fuels and where possible, hold meetings via conference call.
• We stay informed on environmentally sustainable business practices and through our Twitter feed we share information and commentary on issues pertaining to the environment and sustainability.
