When a child is harmed at school or on the street it becomes a topic of headline news. Yet, most child injuries occur in the home where children are not far from the watchful eyes of their parents. To assist parents and caregivers in making their homes safe for kids, Pier 8 Group created a booklet entitled “Keeping Children Safe at Home”, which highlights the most common safety hazards throughout the house.
Originally developed for Niagara Region and the public health departments of five other adjacent communities, the booklet proved so popular that it was reprinted by several other municipalities across Ontario. A series of safety posters and a Safe At Home website rounded out the campaign.
