bird watching in the woods

Southwestern Ontario Tourism

Point Pelee National Park in southwestern Ontario is ranked as one the top 10 destinations in North America for bird watching. The park and other nearby sites attract close to 40,000 visitors each spring for the annual bird migrations. Pier 8 Group, working with the Carolinian Canada Coalition and Earth Tramper Consulting, undertook a marketing study for the Southwest Ontario Tourism Corporation. The project required some two dozen site visits to identify and evaluate birding hotspots across the region. The tourism marketing strategy we developed included recommendations for a Lake Erie Coastal Birding Trail, a regional birding website, maps, brochures and visitor guides.
